Despite his slacker wife--who was so distracted by trying to forestall violence and arrests at the largest political march in five years that she forgot to wish him a happy birthday until noon on April 4--Nathan managed to celebrate his birthday in style. We got him a new set of super-cool home brewing equipment and had a joint birthday party for him (with another embassy friend) at a local bar. Seems like an odd idea, but it was great. The bar--one of the few in Cambodia that's known for modestly clad waitresses who offer you food, drink, a smile, and nothing else--gave us the top floor for a games night. We and the other birthday family provided snacks and cake, and had a cash bar.

I love the stories--and that Ben gets confused differentiating close and clothes, but can define extinct for you! Kids are so funny :). We can't wait to see you all soon--I'm sure you're crazy-busy packing up and getting ready to leave. Hope it all goes well...and happy birthday Nathan!
I loved the story about the extinct dinosaurs! I think I sense a future career direction for Ben . . . Love the photos and the stories. I'm glad you had a good birthday celebration, Nathan - creativity is a wonderful thing!
Love,
Mom
Happy Birthday Nathan! A home-brew kit? I am jealous! The stories were great, and we can sympathize about the sleeping problems, Isabel first, and now Dante.
Wishing you all the best.
