Ellie Turns Five

So...those of you who know us well know that Ellie's birthday was actually more than a month ago. Well, since we're still settling in to our house, it took us a while to actually plan and have her birthday party, and then a couple more weeks to get photos up. But here they are! And kudos to Nathan for being in charge of birthday party prep for the first time and pulling together a fun party that Ellie loved.

It was such a nice day that we started off the party playing outside. L to R: Ben, Asher (an Embassy kid), Elizabeth Tesman (from our church, with her son Julian barely visible behind her), and Ellie.

Later on, Ellie's friend Henry (an Embassy kid from school) was playing on our driveway. The blur seems to capture Henry well.

Then we played hide and seek. Here's Ellie hiding inside a play tunnel...

And Julian peeking out from under the dining room table.

Finally, the piece d'resistance, Ellie and her birthday cake. She choose the design--one of the least artistically involved ideas I found on line, which consisted of making a rainbow out of M&Ms and clouds out of marshmallows.

5? 5!?! Are you sure there wasn't some accounting error there? Oy.

In any case: Happy Birthday Ellie! Looks like you all had fun.

Happy birthday again, Ellie! It looks like a great party--and I love the rainbow cake idea with M&Ms and marshmallows :-). We got your thank you note a couple days ago and have it taped on the wall, where Simon likes to look at your picture :).
